The Kathleen Smith Moss Garden in Duke Gardens’ Culberson Asiatic Arboretum exists for the cultivation of moss and as a quiet space where you can contemplate its verdant beauty. Or maybe you can think about the contradictory nature of moss, that its leaves are tiny and delicate yet when clustered can overtake rocks, branches, and stone ornaments with a fuzzy determination. No matter where your thoughts wander, in the moss garden they’ll have a soft landing.
